🌷Although this name might sound strange at first, you’ll soon see just how appropriate it is. Like many-coloured exotic birds, Parrot Tulips have wonderfully feathery, wavy, or curly petals that bring drama to any garden. Your friends may even ask you if these remarkable flowers really are Tulips at all! Parrot tulips include some of the most amazing flower forms and colour combinations to be found: the ultimate in flamboyant spring blooms! They flower from mid to late spring, and flowering height differs slightly, but don’t let that deter you from mixing and matching! Combining tulips that flower at different heights can result in some really spectacular designs.

💐Growing at a glance…

Tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn, before any frost. Find an area of soil that is well-drained and moist and plant your bulbs at twice their depth and spaced apart by 10-15cm. Ensure they are properly covered, you should not be able to see them on the surface of the soil. Position in an area that you know receives plenty of sunlight but is also sheltered from harsh winds. Deadhead the flowers once they wilt, encouraging a healthier plant.

🌱Planting & Care

Plant the flower bulbs in loose soil 10 cm deep. deep and about 5 cm. from each other for a beautiful sea of ​​flowers in the spring. You can plant the flower bulbs from September to December before the frost period with the points pointing up. Tulips are best planted in a sunny or semi-shaded spot with a trowel or a special bulb planter. Only during extremely dry periods should you give the flower bulbs some water. Tulips are generally not perennial bulbs and are most beautiful in their first year. It is therefore best to remove the tulip bulbs after flowering and plant new ones in the autumn. Tulip bulbs need a cold period (winter) to bloom. In the open ground they can withstand all weather conditions. In extreme frost, you should place the tulip bulbs planted in pots in a cold shed.

Tulips are very suitable as cut flowers. It is best to cut the stems in the morning and place them in a vase with lukewarm water and cut flower food. The fresh flowers last a long time in your vase. This way you can put together your own bouquets. Because we only supply the largest tulip bulbs, you also receive the largest flowers.
